December 26 DROP ME A NOTE~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
December 05 A New Kind of DraftFinished the book "My Friend Leonard" yesterday. Loved the book. I read James Frey's first book "A Million Little" pieces a few weeks ago. Wonderful book, very powerful. Thankfully "My Friend Leonard" had funny parts so it was not as intense as the first book.
I was reading a blog at "Nan's Place" yesterday and I started thinking. She was reviewing the TV show "Commander and Chief". I like the show and Gina Davis, but what I really like is the concept of a woman president. A woman president would not send her young male child to war, I don't think.
A woman president would be reasonable and reinstate the draft. Yes, you read this right, the draft. Only this draft would not consist of our young male children. This draft would consist of males 50-65 years old. That should stop some of the fighting. I know that we must protect our freedom, but men 50-65 do not want to participate in a war. They are nearing retirement and many have worked hard to obtain possessions that they have always wanted.
Believe me, the over 50+ crowd will come up with a plan to save our freedom and not risk their careers and retirement dreams. The military would have a hard time supporting all the high blood pressure and arthritus medicine. Can you imagine boot camp? Ben Gay would be standard military issue. Geritol would be mixed in with coffee every day. All the uniform pants would be measured in the waist under the belly.
All countries should adopt this type of draft. The world would be a safer and better place. I'm sorry; this just had to come out. Maybe I should have a talk with Gina. |
